Leslie A. Peal

Leslie A. Peal moved to East Tennessee in the fall of 1995 with her husband, Dean, and joined the firm in July 2003 as an Administrative Assistant. In January 2008, she was promoted to Legal Assistant to provide support in the areas of estate planning, wills and trusts. Ms. Peal enjoys working with the firm's clients and assisting the attorneys in providing quality services.

Leslie has more than 15 years of experience in the legal field and is a Notary Public. Prior to joining the firm, she was the legal secretary to a Sevier County litigator, and she also was the legal secretary for the staff attorney of a legal aid office in Brevard County, Florida.

Ms. Peal lives in South Knoxville with her husband, Dean, and in 2012 they expanded their family to include their precious baby boy, Austin.

Carolyn L. Gray

A friend of the firm since 1995, Carolyn Gray joined Anne M. McKinney P.C. in February 2009. Her initial duties centered on Ms. McKinney's speaking, writing and video projects; she also acted as the firm's in-house technology specialist. Ms. Gray has continued in those roles since becoming a full-time Legal Assistant in late 2009, providing support to the attorneys in the areas of estate planning, wills and trusts.

Before joining the firm, Carolyn worked as a freelance writer and editor for print and online publications including, and the Custom Publishing arm of The Knoxville News Sentinel. Her experience also includes 11 years as an account executive with the prestigious Moxley Carmichael public relations firm, serving many of Knoxville's largest and best-known companies. She originally came to Knoxville in 1988 to work in the editorial staff of Whittle Communications, with projects including Tennessee Illustrated Magazine, Special Reports Television and the initial research and development for the Edison Project charter schools.

Ms. Gray graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame with dual majors in Psychology and in Film and Video Production. She also holds a master's degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her husband, Tom Booker, owns and operates Broadway Family Karate in the Fountain City area of Knoxville; they have one daughter, Emma.

Carolyn Gray is a Notary Public for the State of Tennessee.

Arlene V. Shoemaker

Arlene is a native Floridian, having moved from south Florida to Maryville, Tennessee in March, 2005 with her husband, Joe, and three children.

She worked with a well-known Boynton Beach lawyer for 20 years and with a prestigious law firm on the island of Palm Beach prior to moving to TN.

Arlene is a certified Legal Assistant with over 30 years of experience in the legal field, most of which has been in estate planing and probate administration. She joined the firm in July of 2008.

Arlene is a member of the Smoky Mountain Paralegal Association, National Association of Legal Assistants and Florida Association of Realtors.

She is also a Notary Public for the state of Tennessee. Arlene and her husband are the owners of A.J.'s Hearth & Kettle Restaurant in Townsend, Tennessee.

Lisa K. Bailey

Lisa K. Bailey, born and raised in Knoxville, began working with the firm in 2015 as a Law Clerk while attending Lincoln Memorial’s Duncan School of Law. After receiving her law degree in 2016, she became a Legal Assistant with the firm pending her licensure as an attorney. Lisa also holds a bachelor’s degree in University Studies from the University of Tennessee.

Ms. Bailey’s professional experience includes a variety of positions, most notably as a national support and sales manager for a multinational photocopier and information systems company. In this role, she coached distributors throughout the U.S. on their business plans, staffing and information technology, and served as an on-site troubleshooter in all of these areas.

The death of her husband, Dennis Klouda, in 2007, precipitated Lisa’s pursuit of a legal career; Lisa plans to provide services in the areas of estate planning and estate administration. Her goal is to help clients plan for efficient and effective transfer and disposition of assets to others, and to assist clients with administration of the estate when the time comes.
